2022 wrap up
Every year I wonder what the hell I did over the course of 12 months that I should be happy about. I am mostly a positive person but that’s not to say I don’t forget my own peaks by way of getting mentally trapped in the valleys, and 2022 pushed me into a lot of those.
For the sake of posterity I skimmed through my INstagram account to see what I’d posted about over the last year and I was surprised at how far I’ve come and the projects I completed.
If you’re interested, dear reader, here is my 2022 wrap up:
Typed ‘THE END’ on the first draft of the novel I’m still working on, with hopes of getting it out to agents this year. 83, 082 words deep, and edits continue to this day, but that first draft… it was a good one!
Attended my first book festival where I talked to other authors, did a little presentation on a co-written book I’ve worked on, and generally threw myself out into the world with reckless abandon. It was a great first time!
Re-designed the cover for Etta! and I LOVE it.
Finished the final edits for Seven Princes of Hell: Benji.
PUBLISHED SPOH: Benji!
Finished 2nd edits on the 83k YA novel.
Planned my YA Mystery novel for NaNoWriMo
Went to Australia for 2 weeks and gave up the idea of writing in November. Decided the original concept wasn’t working.
Scrapped my first 20k words and restarted it from a different POV - learned that failing on purpose, AND by mistake, can lead to wonderful things!
Wrote a short story for my email subscribers which will become a NEW SERIES next year!
Often it feels like I’m standing still when I should be making bigger steps, but it’s so hard to see your progress when you’re IN it. I recommend anyone reading this look through your socials, or just stop and think about how far you’ve come over the last 12 months. It’s probably not as bad as you think!
