What to expect in 2023
At the end of last year I began thinking about what I wanted to achieve in 2023. I didn’t write anything down, I just mulled. Fun fact, I’m really good at mulling. I can sit and mull for hours. It can look like I’m just staring into space and can often be confused with my ‘overwhelmed’ expression, but trust me when I say thoughts ARE happening.
The weekend just gone was a big one. Whilst I had been mulling, I had decided to use the first weekend in January to sit down and plan the year so I took my notebook, a couple of books (distractions always needed), my boyfriend and my dog, and we sat in our fave coffee shop for a few hours. By the end of the day my expression had made the transition from thinking to panicking. It was done.
My 2023 writing goals are:
Jan-April
Finish the first draft of The Fantasy Girl vol. 3 / edit
Finish the 3rd edit of my YA novel, to prep for agents
Do final edit/tweaks of my YA Werewolf novel to prep for formatting
Release the new Baby Steps cover
April-July
Release new short story on VIP Page
Prep the YA novel for agent queries
Publish YA Werewolf novel!
Write first draft of Seven Princes Episode 3
July-Oct
Publish The Fantasy Girl vol 3
Edit and prep SPOH for publication
Send YA novel to agents
Start drafting up a new cozy mystery series
Oct-Dec
Publish Seven Princes 3
NaNoWriMo
Work on the cozy mystery series
It will be a busy year (my busiest to date), but I need to clear this backlog and push forwards with lots of things. I am working towards finding an agent but I don’t want the idea (read: false ideal) of traditional publication to hold me back from telling my stories. I am incredibly excited for everything I’m doing this year, in particular the novel I’m sending to agents and the werewolf novel (first in a 3 part series), which I’ve been holding onto for a while. That will be my biggest launch to date, and I’m already in talks with a cover artist and formatter for it…
Being at this stage in my career where I’m totally in charge, and sitting on a huge stock of work is truly amazing. I’ve been working so hard for the last ten years that I’m now in a place where I know my next steps, I know my stories for the next few years, and I’m thrilled to be able to share them with my readers!
Talk soon!
